Yerba Mate Herb Tea Loose Dried Leaf ~ Ilex Paraguariensis

Yerba Mate ( Ilex paraguariensis ) is a traditional South American beverage renowned for its tonic properties, offering “the energy of coffee, the benefits of tea and the pleasure of chocolate.” It contains natural caffeine (mateine), theobromine and theophylline, elements that offer mental clarity and alertness without the abrupt “crash” that coffee causes. 

Preparation Instructions (Loose Leaf) 

To avoid a bitter taste and preserve nutrients, follow these steps:

Preparation: Place the dried leaves in the extraction vessel.

Temperature: Use hot water (ideally 70-80°C). Caution: Avoid boiling water, as it can alter the taste.

Time: Let it infuse for a few minutes.

Serving: You can add honey, lemon or even milk. In South America it is traditionally drunk in a special vessel (gourd) with a metal straw-filter (bombilla).

Due to the caffeine content, it is recommended to avoid consumption in the late afternoon to avoid affecting sleep.
