Lucuma Ground Powder ~ Pouteria Lucuma Powder
Origin:Peru
The Lucuma Ground Powder (lucuma powder, Pouteria lucuma ) is a nutritious superfood from the Peruvian Andes, known as the "gold of the Incas"It is a fruit that is dried and ground into a fine powder with a light yellow color and a sweet flavor reminiscent of caramel, maple syrup, and sweet potato.
Culinary Uses
Due to its sweetness and low glycemic index, lucuma powder is an excellent natural sweetener and sugar substitute.
Smoothies & Beverages: Add 1-2 tablespoons to fruit smoothies, milkshakes or plant-based milks (almond, coconut). Also great in coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
Desserts & Ice Cream: In Peru, loukoumades ice cream is the most popular flavor. You can use it in puddings, mousses, yogurts, and chia puddings.
Baking: Add to muffins, pancakes, cakes and cookies. Because it is drier than sugar, you may need to slightly increase the liquids in the recipe.
Replacement ratio: To replace brown sugar, use twice as much lucuma powder (2:1 ratio).
Breakfast: Sprinkle it over cereal, oatmeal or muesli.
Lucuma powder contains vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin C, iron, calcium, potassium and phosphorus.
