Bancha Dried Leaves Loose Leaf Herbal Tea ~ Bancha Green Tea
Origin: China.
The Japanese Bancha is the second most popular green tea in Japan after Sencha and is considered the quintessential “everyday tea.” It is produced from the ripest and largest leaves that are harvested later in the season (summer and fall), which gives it a distinctive, earthy character.
Characteristics & Taste
Taste Profile: It has a fresh, grassy and slightly nutty flavor with a mild sweetness. It is less astringent and bitter than Sencha due to the maturity of the leaves.
Low Caffeine: Contains up to 70% less caffeine than other green teas, making it ideal for consumption in the afternoon or evening, as well as suitable for children and people with sensitivities.
Rich in Minerals: It is particularly rich in calcium, iron, vitamin A and fluoride.
Preparation Instructions
Bancha is more "durable" than Sencha and does not become bitter easily with temperature.
Water temperature: 75°C – 80°C.
Quantity: 1 teaspoon (approximately 3-4g) per 200ml of water.
Extraction time: 30 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on the intensity you desire.
