Green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum ), also known as the "Queen of Spices", is one of the most valuable spices worldwide, valued for its intense aroma and complexity of flavor. The whole green pods contain small black seeds with notes of lemon, mint, and pine, and are widely used in both cooking and confectionery.

Uses and Properties

Cooking: An essential ingredient in mixtures such as garam masala , in curry, pilaf, but also in traditional sweets such as tsoureki and basil pie.

Beverages: It is used whole or ground in Arabic coffee and chai tea to provide a penetrating aroma.

Benefits: Cardamom has detoxifying, anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties, while it significantly helps with digestion and combating bad breath.

The experts recommend purchasing whole pods instead of ready-made seeds or powder, as the casing protects the essential oils from oxidation, preserving the aroma for much longer. For best results, lightly crush the pods just before use to release the aromas.
