How Mount Athos Paste Incense is Made
Grinding & Blending: Monks take raw, pure frankincense tears and grind them into a powder. They blend this base with pure aromatic essential oils and water to form a soft dough.
Kneading: The mixture is kneaded by hand while prayers (often the Jesus Prayer) are recited continuously.
Cutting & Coating: The dough is rolled into thin cords, sliced into uniform pieces, and dusted with natural magnesium powder to keep the resinous pieces soft and prevent them from sticking together.
