Cumin (Cumin (Cuminum cyminum ) is one of the most popular spices worldwide, known for its warm, earthy, and slightly peppery flavor. It is primarily available in two forms: whole dried seeds and finely ground powder.

Cumin is characterized by a complex aroma that combines sweetness with a subtle bitterness and citrus notes. 

Cumin powder offers immediate and uniform distribution of flavor in dishes. It is used in marinades, soups, sauces and minced meats (such as in soutzoukia). It is usually added towards the end of cooking so that it does not lose its intensity. 

Cumin powder begins to lose its potency after 6 months and should be stored in airtight, glass containers in a cool, dark and dry place.
