Chives Chive Dried Cut Herb ~ Allium Schoenoprasum

Origin: China.

Dried chives ( Allium schoenoprasum ) are a delicate and aromatic herb belonging to the onion family (Allium), offering a milder and more refined flavor than the common onion. It is widely used in the kitchen as a garnish and as a flavoring ingredient, adding a fresh, slightly spicy note to a variety of dishes. 

Culinary Uses

Garnish: Ideal for baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, omelets and eggs.

Sauces & Dips: Added to yogurt, cream cheese or mayonnaise-based sauces.

Soups & Salads: Enriches the flavor of green salads, potato salads, fish and white meats.

Ratio: 1 teaspoon dried chives is equivalent to about 1 tablespoon fresh

It is rich in vitamin K (for bone health), vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium.

To preserve its flavor and properties, it should be stored in airtight glass containers , in a cool, dark and dry place.

Add it to food just before serving, as prolonged heat can alter its delicate aroma.
