Ceylon Cloves Ground Powder Spice ~ Syzygium Aromaticum

The Ground Ceylon cloves powder ( Syzygium aromaticum ) are a premium quality spice with an intense, warm aroma and a deep spicy flavor. The powder is obtained from the processing of the dried buds of the Sri Lankan clove tree, which is famous for its high content of essential oils (eugenol). It is ideal for adding intensity to desserts (apple pies, melomakarona), hot beverages, but also to marinades or meat sauces.

It has a dark brown color, a result of the buds drying out in the sun and just one teaspoon of the powder provides about 30% of the recommended daily intake of manganese.

Due to its very strong flavor, it should be used in moderation so as not to cover the other flavors of the dish.
