The Rose of Jericho , also known as the "resurrection plant" ( Selaginella lepidophylla ), is one of nature's most impressive plants. It is a desert cactus that has the ability to survive for years in a completely dry, brown, and curled-up form, and to "come alive" within hours upon contact with water.

Properties & Symbolism

Symbol of Luck: It is believed to bring blessing, abundance and positive energy to the home.

Symbol of Rebirth: Due to its ability to "resurrect", it is often used in rituals involving new beginnings.

Natural Humidifier: When open to water, it helps purify and moisturize the room's atmosphere.

How to "Bring It to Life"

Place the dried plant in a bowl of lukewarm water (only the base needs to be touching the water).

Within a few hours (or up to 1-2 days), its branches will unfurl and take on a pale green color.

Important: Do not leave it in water for more than 4-5 days in a row, as it may become moldy.

Remove it from the water and let it dry completely until it becomes a dry ball again. You can repeat the process as many times as you like.

Although some people use its water or parts of the plant for douches or infusions (for colds or menstrual pain), great caution is required . There are different species called "Rose of Jericho" (such as Anastatica hierochuntica ), and internal consumption is not recommended without the guidance of a specialist herbalist.
