Mistletoe Cut Leaves & Roots Loose Herbal Tea ~ Viscum Album

The decoction from dried mistletoe leaves and roots ( Viscum album ), also known as mistletoe, is a traditional drink with a mild, earthy flavor reminiscent of dandelion tea. It is classified as a Dried Herbs and in Greece it is mainly collected from fir trees (in the south) or fruit trees (in the north).

Taste: It has earthy notes and a delicate herbal aroma that is considered refreshing.

Aroma: Mild and pleasant, especially when combined with sweeteners such as honey.

Preparation Instructions

There are two main methods of preparation, with cold extraction often preferred to preserve certain ingredients:

Hot Infusion:

Add 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb to a cup of hot water (just before boiling).

Leave it covered for 7-15 minutes .

Strain and add honey or stevia if desired.

Cold Extraction (Maceration):

Add 1 tablespoon (about 3-5g) to 250ml of cold water.

Let it soak for 12 hours (e.g. overnight) at room temperature.

Strain and consume it in the morning, slightly warm or at room temperature.
